pepwave soho with new arris cable modem

I have two pepwave soho munits, both are about 4 years old.

I have just received an arris cable modem, and want to use the modem with one of my soho pepwave routers.

I son’t use cellular for any kind of internet acess, no that I have this cable modem, so I don’t care about 5g, etc…but rather simply want the most security I can get.

My reading tells me I can use both together, hooking the modem up to the soho unit and using it as the rounter for the LAN. I assume I would hook it up to the WAN ethernet connection and then all LAN components to the pepwave unit. is this, please, correct?

also, should I switch off NAT translation on the arris modem using the pepwave soho unit for all such functions?

are there any caveats that I should be thinking about?

many thanks!

Put the Arris in bridge mode and have the Peplink act as the DHCP server on the network. Then you control everything from the Peplink.

Yes, the ethernet coming out of the Arris would plug into the WAN port on the Peplink. Then connect all devices to the Peplink.

thanks so much.

if creating a bridge does it, do I need to make a separate move on disabling nat translation on the arris?

and lastly, and now I am in learning mode…if I did not create a formal bridge, but rather, say, disabled nat translation on the arris and just plugged the arris into the WAN connection on the peplink unit, would all still actually work…with a bridge making it even better?..or is it a yes or no in terms of working without creating a bridge?

again, thanks.

Hello all,

would someone be so kind as to help me with answers to the above questios about using the unit as a bride/nat translation and so on?

many thanks.
