Pepwave MAX with Verizon Pantech MHS291LVW Issue

When trying to tether my Verizon MHS291LVW to USB port 1 the Pepwave Max On The Go running 6.1.0, the status is stuck in a “connecting” state. Is there a firmware update or possible setting I have to configure?
