PepVPN/SpeedFusion while travelling to Russia

Russia MTS, MegaFon, Beeline (carriers)

I intend to take a peplink device with me to Russia. ( BR1 mini or Max Transit Duo)

I have a few questions

  1. Can BR1 Mini connect to speedfusion, or do I have to use a device like Max Transit Duo (my understanding is PepVPN is the underlying technology for SpeedFusion)
Answer (got from 5gstore): only v3 BR1 Mini can do speed fusion. Will probably take Max Transit Duo instead (a little heavier), my BR1 is v1.
  2. Will Max Transit Duo be able to connect to US datacenters or my own VPN server (e.g. speedfusion in the cloud)
  3. Vendor lists compatible carriers (pasted above from link, they’re actually the main 3 out of 4 in Russia), does that mean the VPN traffic will not be blocked by those carriers (as Russia is actively blocking known VPN IPs and VPN protocols such as WireGuard and OpenVPN based on DPI), but maybe filtered instead as required by Russian law?

The purpose of my VPN is going to be legitimate (e.g. not avoiding Russia’s blockage of what they consider “misinformation”)

Also, what’s the underlying “proprietary” technology… Is VPN traffic easily identifiable via DPI?
Apparently they easily disrupt OpenVPN and WireGuard traffic.
