Branchoffice (1xISP): Balance One WITHOUT Speedfusion
As the Branchoffice has only one ISP, I want to avoid the costs of the License.
Can you tell me, what would happen in that szenario?
Will the Balance ONE only establish ONE VPN-Tunnel and try to establish a new one in case of a failure, or will it establish one tunnel to EACH ISP in the HQ?
It’s a little more complicated, but basically the second scenario. The Balance One and 710 would be able to maintain their PepVPN connection as long as at least one ISP connection is available at either end.
That depends on what you consider an interruption.
For something time critical, like, say, a voip connection, with the default configurations you might see a call delay/failure due to the time it takes for the device to detect that one connection is unusable and everything is routed to the other connection. For normal web traffic, failures should be transparent to the end user.
If you enabled wan smoothing on your configuration, you’d actually have your data for each session routed through both connections at all times. In that case, you shouldn’t lose a single packet due to ISP loss, but it would cause your overall throughput to drop due to the overhead of sending redundant data.
SpeedFusion bonding license only require for the Balance One if you connect more that 1 WAN for the device. For you setup, seamless/unbreakable connection for HQ WAN fail over.
@JamesPep is explaining on the time critical traffics that we have WAN Smoothing option that can be enable to reduce the impact of packet loss and get the lowest possible latency at the expense of extra bandwidth consumption.
