Hi Support,
Please tell me which specifications the USB WAN (Type-C) of the Peplink B One & B One 5G can support, as follows:
USB Type :
USB 2.0
USB 3.2 Gen 1
USB 3.2 Gen 2
USB 3.2 Gen 2x2
USB4(include Thunderbolt 3/4)
Regard,
Bit.

The SOC has a USB 3.0 and a USB 2.0 port available. Best guess is that both are wired to the USB C physical port since USB C requires both to function correctly and I have far exceeded USB 2.0 speeds with it.
There is no real difference between a 3.0 and a 3.2 Gen 1 port that will effect anything you will do with it. Any device that is USB of any of the specs you listed should function. I have never pushed more than 1 Gbit though the port using USB to network adapters, you might be able to do a bit better with data when the docker license becomes available but don’t expect much, you will be limited by a single CPU core.
No native thunderbolt device will work unless it has a bridge chip and can fall back to USB. Some NVME enclosures do, some do not, so research before buying. (Also don’t bother for speed, only go that route if you need capacity or want a high write endurance drive)
This post gets in to a bit of a deep dive on the internals of these devices and some speculation B One and Docker
This post lists some results with different USB network adapters, including one embedded in a fairly cheep USB dock. I can’t say for sure that you could run a USB network adapter and a USB data device simultaneously on the B One but if the licence isn’t too expensive I may give it a try some day.
