Trying to see if anyone else has seen this issue or used peplink in a similar fashion with QoS Clients.
- Access the Peplink Interface:
- Navigate to QoS:
- Click on the “QoS” tab.
- Select “User Groups.”
- Set Up User Groups:
- Add user groups if needed.
- Assign MAC addresses to these groups.
- Configure Bandwidth Limits:
- Set download/upload limits for each group under “User Group Bandwidth Control.”
- Apply changes to save the settings.
Issue Description and Use Case
Recently, we’ve expanded our user groups from 3 to 10 options (e.g., 6, 10, 20 Mbps, etc.). Previously, we had around 30-40 MAC addresses under the standard groups (Manager, Staff, Guest) without issues.
Now, when we reach a certain number of users or subnet classifications, QoS seems to default to the Guest setting (3 Mbps) for some users that previously had no issue with QoS. This issue occurs randomly, not just for the last added device. We have to remove and re-add the QoS settings for the affected devices to restore functionality.
Our setup involves flat VLANs distributed mainly via Cisco switches in a conference center(s). We’ve replicated the issue with all Peplink routers and switches to ensure it’s not a Cisco-related problem.
- Minimum bandwidth: 3 Mbps via DHCP.
- Clients connect (mostly non-Peplink routers), and we assign bandwidth based on needs.
- Guest and Staff are set to 3 Mbps by default.
It seems like there might be a limit or bug related to the number of user groups or MAC addresses Peplink can handle effectively.
