Peplink Router will not allow internet access to one device (PC)

I have had a Peplink router set up in my RV for years, and all of a sudden, it will no longer provide internet access to my PC. I have other devices on the same Peplink LAN that work fine (including another PC). The problem PC does get assigned a valid IP address (which I have set up as a static address w/o conflicts), but the wireless connection states “connected, no internet.” The same PC works on my home LAN. I can ping the Peplink from the problem PC. Any ideas?

I am having the same issue. My laptop connects wirelessly with no problem, internet connectivity okay. My wife’s laptop connects wirelessly but no internet access. All other devices (Apple TV, iPhones, iPads, et cetera) all connect with internet access.

Yes, sounds like the same issue… hopefully somebody has some ideas.

are you able to ping the router from your computer when connected?

Yes, I can ping the Peplink router from the problem PC (but no internet).

Can you ping 1.1.1.1
This would rule out a DNS problem.
Other things to check would be that your static ip is using the correct default gateway when on the rv LAN, outbound policy in the router for anything set up for that device, have you been using a VPN on the PC that might be incompatible with the ISP in the RV, VPN set up in the router that had rules for that PC that isn’t functioning.

Removing the static IP just for a test might be a good idea, try the pc wired instead of wireless I guess would be a test to see if it’s something OS level wrong with the PC.

As a kind of drastic test, you can back up your Peplink settings file, factory reset your Peplink router and see if it works with factory (or as little set as is needed for your ISP) settings. If that doesn’t help, just load your setting back in and you are back to your setup.

Trying the PC at a 3rd location might be a quick test to see if somehow it only works at your home and it’s not the RV network that is the problem.

No, i cannot ping 1.1.1.1

PC wireless adapter connects, but no internet

Router address is 192.168.50.1
Ipconfig:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.50.50
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.50.1

Ping 192.168.50.1 works
Ping 1.1.1.1 does not work
Ping 8.8.8.8 does not work
Ping 192.168.50.197 (a LAN client) works

I changed the static IP address on the PC twice, same result, no Internet

When I connect a cable to the router, all works ok and i have internet access
As soon as I pull the cable, no internet.

Well, that makes the router the more obvious problem (assuming you haven’t got any static routes programmed in to the pc), since it’s just doing it on the wireless and just to that one device.

Did you ever test without the static, returning to DHCP, no clue why thta would be a problem but it’s an easy thing to rule out.

I suppose next would be check outbound policy and firewall settings to see if your static ip or mac address has anything set to it.

Next I would advise going to system, configuration, download your active configuration and then factory reset the device, see if it works with factory defaults, just setting up your internet and DHCP. If it does, something is wrong with your old settings somewhere, so you will have to start from scratch. If it doesn’t fix the problem you can simply upload the saved config in the same spot and be back to your current config.

On my setup, I’m using DHCP from the router. The two laptops are setup the same (although maybe not?) and connect to WiFi using the router as the AP.

Any MAC address outbound policy that might be forcing that specific MAC address to a connection that isn’t active ?

what is your DNS set to? you only listed the IP, SM, and gateway. If your PC doesnt have a DNS set then you wont be able to get internet

It was set to my router IP address

Yeah, except DNS wouldn’t stop ping to a known ip to fail. I’d start with the easiest thing to test, reset the wireless adapter on the PC.

Assuming Windows 11:
Press Win + I, then go to Network & Internet > Advanced network settings.

Find and select Network reset on the right pane, then click the Reset now button.

A prompt will pop up asking you to confirm the change; select Yes.

Once the process is done, the system will automatically restart after a short delay.

I was able to get this working, but I’m not exactly sure which change fixed the problem:

  1. Updated to the latest Peplink Firmware version: 8.5.3

  2. Removed all inactive PC Adapters that appeared on CMD, IPCONFIG /ALL (I had over 20 that stated “Media Disconnected”)

  3. Reset the wireless adapter on the PC

  4. Saved my active Peplink configuration

  5. Restored Configuration to Factory Settings

  6. Changed/configured Peplink router setup minimally to see if I could get internet access

  7. Checked internet access, and it worked

  8. Reloaded my saved configuration

  9. Removed my SpeedFusion connection (I am no longer paying for SF service subscription)

  10. On Network tab => Network settings => DNS Proxy Settings: checked the following
    a. Enabled
    b. DNS Caching
    c. Include Google Public DNS Servers

  11. On Network tab => LAN
    a. Selected the LAN name
    b. DHCP Server: enabled
    c. DNS Servers: Checked “assign DNS server automatically.”

I think this is all I did, but now I have Internet access on the PC.

Maybe someone can pinpoint the likely cause/culprit.

Hope this helps anyone with the issue
Thanks for the support

Sounds like the same problem 8.5.2 cured so probably firmware…
