I see the new announcement for partnership between Peplink and Iridium, which as a shareholder (
) it surely a good news, but anyone know the details, like:
Iridium have a companion package, designed to provide backup when primary connectivity down, in the old days, it is to companion VSAT, now with Starlink will it also applicable when Starlink enter the restricted countries?
How IC will work on Iridium, I see devices always showing offline when switch to VSAT, consider Iridium usually even slower than VSAT, how we can ensure remote control/monitor on Iridium link… And how we can save data usage on Iridium network, will Peplink do some specific optimization for Iridium network?

Hi Jiang Lin,
There are several key points worth highlighting, which I hope will help provide a better understanding:
1. Using multiple WAN options is more reliable than a single type connection
Peplink really shines here as we offer a highly flexible configuration for managing multiple WAN options. For example, you can configure the system to use Iridium only when all other WAN connections are unavailable. Additionally, it’s possible to restrict Iridium usage to critical communications only, preventing general traffic from consuming satellite bandwidth. This is a basic example and there are way more options, but I believe this explains the idea.
2. Peplink SpeedFusion improves Iridium performance and reliability
The SpeedFusion protocol significantly improves connection reliability by mitigating packet loss via satellite connectivity. Furthermore, it enables the use of Peplink InTouch, allowing remote access to devices on the local network (behind the Peplink router) via InControl. This provides secure and easy access to critical equipment whenever needed.
Last but not least, we’ve tested everything mentioned above in our lab and it works like a charm

Thanks, are you going to move step forwarder, like provide Starlink and Iridium airtime?
It’s hard to say, as things are constantly evolving. For example, with Starlink, we’re currently working on deeper integration on the business side to enable easier service activation, simplified payments for our partners (Peplink ASP program). With Iridium, just like with Starlink, our initial focus is on the technical aspects first.
