Peplink eSIM/Physical SIM questions

I am considering switching to a Peplink eSIM/physical SIM plan for one of my current SIM plans (I currently have 2 physical SIMs), but am trying to figure out some things I have not been able to figure out in order to decide how best to proceed. I will be getting an NA & EU single device SIM, not Global.

  • The FAQ says data from a Peplink eSIM Data Plan will be equally distributed amongst the number of cellular modems in the device. I have a FlexModule Plus in my SDX, which means it has 2 modems. But, I only have antennas connected to 1 modem (not using the other, it is disabled in the config). So, with the second modem disabled, will the data still be split between the 2 modems or does disabling the second modem keep all data with the active one? I don’t want to lose 1/2 the data I purchase to a modem I can’t use (the modem is underground and antenna on the roof, so not running 4 more LM400 cables for a second antenna).
  • If the data will still be split with the disabled modem, would using a physical Peplink SIM (not eSIM) overcome this and make sure all the data just goes to 1 modem (the one with the physical SIM inserted)?
  • It seems like the eSIM is tied to a specific device. Is the same true for the physical SIM? In the past, when I get a new device (recently went from 380X to SDX), I have just swapped my SIM cards and I’m good. Will I be able to do the same with the Peplink physical SIM (or is there an easy way to move an eSIM to a new device)?
  • I know the eSIM supports multiple carriers. Does the physical SIM also support the same multiple carriers?
  • The FAQ references checking remaining data in SpeedFusion. Is there any other way to check remaining data? If not, is a SpeedFusion plan required to view remaining data (I will not be using SpeedFusion Connect)?
  • If do go with an eSIM instead of physical SIM, can the eSIM be activated without InControl (I do not want to use InControl or connect my router to it)?
  • Depending on some of these questions, I am leaning toward a physical SIM. Are there any “negatives” to a Peplink physical SIM vs. eSIM or anything I should be aware of or consider in going with a physical SIM?

Thanks in advance.
