Peplink Balance OSPF Route Advertisement

Hello.

I’ve noticed an interesting issue in the way the Peplink Balance One’s are advertising OSPF routes to adjacent devices based on whether the PepVPN is formed over cellular or ethernet.

If the PepVPN is formed over cellular, the Peplink Balance One advertises it as an internal route. If the PepVPN is formed over ethernet (WAN 1), the Peplink Balance One advertises it as an external type 2 OSPF route.

I have offices with Cisco ASAs and Juniper SRX devices and have confirmed the issue on both types of devices. Can anyone shed some light on why the Balance One is behaving this way? I would think that the routes should be advertised as all external or all internal.

Thank you.

Edit: For clarification, I was wondering why my ASAs and SRXs were not redistributing certain OSPF routes from my Balance One into BGP and I realized some were received as Internal and some were Ext Type 2. 99% of our devices are on cellular so it took me quite some time to even notice.
