Peplink Balance 310x - L2TP/IPSec Remote User Access not working

I have a problem with the remote user access.

For a few days now, remote user access via L2TP/IPSec on a Peplink Balance 310x router has no longer been working. The VPN server is not responding. After a router restart, access works again, but only for about 30 to 60 minutes. Then the clients receive the message that the server is not responding. There is nothing in the event log. Other accesses via WAN2 (port forwarding) work.

Configuration:

Remote User Access via L2TP with IpSec
Local user accounts
Access via WAN2
Worked flawlessly for months

Has anyone an idea how to solve this problem?

What is the client type? Possible to switch to another client type and have the same issue?

thank you for your response.

I found out today that it’s not the Peplink router causing the issue, but rather our internet provider’s modem. It’s partially blocking incoming connections. When I restart the modem, everything works fine again for a while.

Curiously, rebooting the Peplink router also proved effective in mitigating the problem.
We’re getting a new modem tomorrow, so that should resolve the issue.
