Dear Community,
I’d like to set up two simliar SSIDs to extend the range of the wireless network from the internal AP of the Peplink Balance 30.
One AP should be the Balance, the other one the Netgear WAX610.
My problem is, in the configuration described below, clients connecting to the external AP (when it’s closer) never get an IP.
Devices:
Peplink Balance 30 LTEA
Netgear WAX610 (AP)
They’re connected via a Trunk Port on the Peplink Balance that propagates all VLANs.
I could narrow it down as follows:
When both the Netgear AP and the Peplink have the same SSID, sharing the same VLAN (in this case ID 105), clients don’t get an IP if they’re closer to the Netgear AP.
I can get it to work when I deactivate the internal AP on the Balance.
It’ll also work when I use a different VLAN on the Netgear AP (that then also has a different IP range). Clients will handle that as two separate SSIDs as it seems, and connection is lost when the client hops from one AP to the other.
Of course this is not what I intend, but it proves, that per se the AP and also the trunking is working.
Any hints to get the two to work together to appear as one single wireless network to the clients?
Does the Netgear AP and Balance somehow conflict here?
Thanks in advance!
