Peplink B One 5g and Starlink Setup

I have just purchased a Peplink B One 5g .
I am trying to configure it to work as a Wan smoother in conjunction with my Italia 5g sim card from my ISP carrier.
I followed the following you tube video to a tee, but with no success.

The download speeds were between 2 and 20 mps from my starlink wan.
My hardware configuration is as follows:
Starling v3 router and dish in by pass mode.
Ethernet cable from my starlink to the B One 5g with 5g sim card…
Ethernet cable from the B One 5 to a switched hub.
4 access points wired via ethernet cable leaving the switched hub.
Am I able to do wan smoothing with my local carrier 5g sim card?
Why are my speeds so slow?
Regards,
Simon

Update!
When I take my 5g sim card out of the peplink my starlink speeds go back to normal.
The sim card is throtteling the speed.
Any suggestions?

Is it better to use the peplink data plans for 5g with a virtual sim or can you use any 5g sim card?

I am not a Tec person, I am a Ski pro and Hotelier trying to get my Hotel’s Internet sorted. I which someone could help.

Are you certain that, when cellular is available, the modem is actually using Starlink and not the cell service?

I haven’t integrated Starlink into a Peplink cell modem yet. Going to be doing that tomorrow, with a MAX BR1 Mini 5G, but the cell connection and WAN (which is what Starlink will be plugged into) have priorities. If you want Starlink prioritized when it’s available, you have to set it to Priority 1 (Highest).

At least that’s what I would assume.

I have tried deactivating the cellular altogether and run the peplink just on starlink and my speeds are still slow.

Hi Simon,

A few things that pop up in my head is about the placement for the router and Starlink antenna. Do you know if the Starlink antenna has enough clearance to be working correctly? Also, please check if you’re on the correct starlink plan.

For the cellular where is the router and antennas placed? Do you use external antennas? And if you use external antennas do you have long cable runs?

Also you can enable the Starlink features on your WAN port that will give you some insight into the InControl2 Management platform about the Starlink.

Hope this helps.

I opened a ticket with peplink and have had outstanding service in the help i was being given.
The technician managed to get a stable setup with Starlink as my Priority and e-sim 5g as my Secondary conection with sfc.
The problem is that the setup is eating up my bandwith.
The reason I got starlink in the first place was to go from 9mb on my ADSl to 150mb on starlink.
With starlink alone I am getting over 100mb in download.
With the peplink setup I am getting between 15 and 40.
I have a small Hotel and need the bandwidth.
If that means just using starlink and have some outages it is better than not having the bandwidth.

Hi Simon,

Good to hear the positive service by the Peplink team.

So the overhead in the SFC tunnel depends on your settings but averages about 20%.
Do you see the same differences in using the LTE connection with and without SFC?

If you see the same on the LTE we might could double check the settings on your Peplink device to see where we might improve.

Let us know
