Hi, I’m using peplink balance 30 ( Product Code : BPL 031) and Pepwave Max HD2 ( Product code : MAX-HD2-LTE-E). How can i check the EOL informaiton and replacement product for my devices.
I think the first thing I’d do is look at the current firmware download page which can be found here. If your device cannot handle the current firmware, which is 8.4.0 (soon to be 8.4.1), I’d consider replacing it. Peplink does not “officially” EOL any of their products. However, at some point older hardware must, of necessity, be left behind as new capabilities and features are added to firmware. (I might also note that Peplink has made some incredible enhancements to some of the recent FW versions.)
For replacement products: My first recommendation is to consult with a Peplink Partner, Peplink Certified Sales Specialist or Peplink Certified Engineer. If you tell us where you are located you may find a high qualified “volunteer” here. Or, some (not all) are listed here. Peplink’s representatives have regional “limitations.” For example, if you contacted me here in the USA from Australia or Europe I’d likely quietly point you to a “known good” Partner there. (It should not surprise you that Partners vary widely in experience and areas of expertise. And, I’ll say that sometimes the ones with the most glowing presence on the internet may not necessarily be the best choice.)
If you want explore and compare the features and capabilities of the various Peplink routers which you may consider I’d point you to their comparison page.
Hope this helps. :<)
In addition to Ricks Response, please have a look at the local gui of your router. Under the status page you can find the hardware release of your router. This is the information you need to compare if your model is supported for the current firmware release. Please read the release notes of the firmware in question.
Also go to the main page and choose the product category.
The main webpage is a fantasic information resource, they have a ton of new information on it , and it’s getting better and better.
You can drill down and look at the products and if you don’t see the product type you wanted to lookup follow that up by what rick said.
Hi Wunna, I would start with your distributor/reseller or point of sale. They will have up to date information when it comes to EOL/Legacy status of specific devices.
