PepLink 580 - Passing L2TP Traffic

I am in the process of configuring a vpn gateway which is going to sit behind a PepLink 580. I will be using the firewalling capabilities of the 580 so I need to allow L2TP traffic to be forwarded to my VPN server.

I can’t managed to find this option in the box anywhere……

Hello Danny,

The following knowledge base article should help you configure your balance.

thanks for the post, so by simply enabling IPsec NAT-T the 580 will allow L2TP over IPSEC to pass through? I thought I would have to instruct the 580 to direct this traffic to my L2TP VPN Gateway servers internal IP… Is this not the case?

Hello Danny,

I’m sorry about the confusion here. You will have to set up a Inbound Access or NAT Mapping.

The following article describes how to set up an Inbound Access.

You can use NAT Mapping as well. However, It will be one to one NAT and all the ports will be forwarded to the device.

The following article describes how different these functions are.

If you have any questions, please let us know.
