I’m looking into getting one of peplink’s 2.5GE 8-Port PoE switches, but my current peplink router only has 1GE ports so it’ll be bottlenecked. Does peplink have any routers with 2.5GE ports? If not, are there any plans to introduce one? I really like peplink’s configuration so I’d rather not switch to another brand.
I believe that only the new Balance 5000 EC has 2.5G LAN ports. Are currently saturating your 1G connections? Or do you still have some room? If you are reaching the limits of a single 1G connection, LACP could help. That would be 2x 1G (or 3x, 4x depending on platform), which is helpful if you have many smaller flows where no single flow needs more than 1G.
I would love to see a 2.5G WAN for my router too, as my fiber lines are all 2G and above and it’s just getting wasted with 1GE ports on my 310x’s.
There is a new one in the horizon that is positioned between the B One 5G and the Balance 310 5G.
Not sure when it will be released though.
That will actually have much higher performance than the current Balance 310 5G with 2.5GbE and 10GbE ports and routing but without 5G and Wifi built in.
