hello Every body
i have configured a lab with 2 cisco router and Peplink BR2 As shown
the required is a GRE tunnel between Pep and Cisco 1841 that already done and tested.
the tunnel has to be configured with Ospf (Point to point) which is configured on cisco and Peplink with default value of ospf parameters in both side,
But no adjacency has been accomplished
the hello packet debuged on cisco with - debug ip ospf hello
noticed that it generated on 224.0.0.5 to the desired tunnel
but when i captured the output of the wan port of peplink by wireshark there is no OSPF Hello packet
is there any troubleshooting for BR2 to be sure about the generation of OSPF Hello over the GRE tunnel?
Hi!
If you did the packet capture on the Max BR2 via support.cgi - I’m not sure that GRE tunnel traffic gets captured there. Have you tried making the capture also on the Cisco side?
In my mind there are three main reasons why the adjacency is not forming, either:
- OSPF is not running on the GRE interface. This should be configured under the Advanced > OSPF & RIPv2 section:
- The OSPF parameters don’t match. I’d compare the hello packets from each device for any discrepancies. Some of the things to look for are: hello, dead timers, OSPF capabilities.
- The GRE tunnel is not correctly connected - have you verified that traffic is indeed passing through the GRE tunnel? On our devices the tunnel is shown as always connected, even if it’s not.
Hello Atef,
If you have InterVLAN routing option enabled on Peplink device please try to turn it off and re-check if the issue persists. Additionally please make sure that Peplink device is running 8.4.1 or above firmware version.

thanks for reply Aivaras
1- done as shown in the reply
2- yes hello is 10 dead is 40
3- when i ping from lan side of peplink to the far end Wan of cisco it reply as long as the GRE is up , if i disable the GRE , i got unreachable from my gateway.
to be sure about the settingof OSPF i have configure just 1 Cisco and Pep with GRe , i have got the adjacency
will check these , thanks
great step my dear
after i have disabled intervlan routing , the both tunnel IP (near end & far end) are pingable
but still no Ospf adjacency .
also the Firmware is 8.5.1
