Greetings community,
A bit stumped with optimal/optimized settings for the AP One AX. When testing this unit against an optimized Synology RT2600ac AP, the AP One AX demonstrates 25-40% slower throughput. Note: Working environment needs to be optimized for Apple hardware.
Throughput samples:
- Synology RT2600ac - [Max] = 840Mbps | [Avg] = 600-650Mbps | Firmware 1.3.1-3 (latest)
- Peplink AP One AX - [Max] = 550Mbs | [Avg] = 400-450Mbps | Firmware 3.9.2 build 4892 (latest)
Test machines (same Apple devices for all WiFi tests) - Apple MBP / MBA / Mac Mini - AC, (non AX)
Testing scenarios/data include:
- File transfer from local NAS to Apple device ~3GB File
- Equipment in same location for testing
- Same SSID
- Same Signal Strength for each environment (-42-45dbm)
- AP One AX - PoE injector vs AC Adapter
- No overlapping signals (only one WiFi environment powered on for testing)
- Stand alone AP (no AP Controller)
- MAX BR2 AP Controller (internal + external)
- Wired backhaul Mesh (no wireless mesh)
- All non-DFS channels - typically 36 / 149 / 153 /161 | @40 or 80 MHz
- Auto settings vs selected bands/frequency
- Advanced Settings - through the hidden “Advanced Settings” option under AP SSID Settings
- DTIM | RTS Threshold | Fragmentation Threshold
Are others experiencing higher throughput for Apple (non AX) hardware?
TIA for any insight.
