No networking experience but really want to try the Peplink B One

Sorry if I’m posting wrong but I really need some advice. I’m interested in the Peplink B One but I’m so scared of buying it because I have zero networking experience. I’ve read so much about vlans and the dos and don’t and all these technical terms about trunks and switches that I’m just not sure if I am capable of setting this up on my own. I’m so scared of making an error and hurting the router or having an insecure network. I’ve read you should change the IP address of the router and all this other stuff but it just goes over my head. Anyways just looking for advice.

As a home user, I found this site invaluable: Router Security (I believe the author posts here occasionally).

He started with a Peplink Surf Soho (a discontinued device). This is a good walk through of setting it up (he states he is going to updated to B One at some point).

If you can read through those and understand them, you’re on your way!

Hey @MissAlice , welcome to the forum.

While we generally cater to larger companies, we work with people in your shoes quite often and will spend a bit of time with you to get to know your equipment and make sure you’re getting the most out of it. Feel free to DM me if you’d like to set up a time to discuss and maybe we can make the B One (and networking) much less intimidating for you
