Newbie with Balance One – No DHCP or Internet on LAN Ports

Hi everyone,

I’m new to Peplink and just got a Balance One with Wi-Fi. I might be missing something simple, so I’d really appreciate some guidance.

Here’s my setup so far:
• WAN1 is connected to my ISP router.
• I can log in to the Balance One either through InControl or by connecting to the Wi-Fi SSID.
• When on Wi-Fi, I successfully get a DHCP lease in the 192.168.50.x range with gateway 192.168.50.1.

The issue is with the wired side:
• None of the LAN ports are handing out DHCP.
• If I assign an IP manually (e.g., 192.168.50.100 / 255.255.255.0 / 192.168.50.1), I can’t reach the internet.
• I haven’t configured any firewall rules or outbound policies yet — this is a fresh setup.

I’ve read the manual, but I can’t see what I might be missing regarding LAN port settings (Access/Trunk/PVID, etc.).

Could someone please point me in the right direction to get the LAN ports working with DHCP and internet?

Thanks in advance — really looking forward to learning from this community!

Does connecting via WiFi allow you to talk to the Internet?

Is this a used balance one? It’s possible to buy a software upgrade for the Balance One that defines LAN1-3 as additional WAN ports (WAN 3, 4, and 5).

If that had been done on yours, then LAN ports 1, 2, and 3 might not be working as expected.

Yes. WAN is behind an ISP router with no static IP (Public)

Its Basically a new Balance one with Two WAN ports. and 4 LAN ports with the latest software version upgraded lately

Thanks for your help. The issue turned to be with my type C ethernet adaptor on mac. it was misbehaving  done with that but couldnt edit this post so i have created a new post with more issues  cheers.

It’s exactly the kind of outside-the-box troubleshooting that can save so much time and frustration.
