Hey there, new to Peplink, but have used many other brands…
I got a new to me (used) MAX Transit LTEA that functions just fine until I connect it to the internet…
Either WAN or Cellular… As soon as it gets connected, the device will reboot and just do the cycle over and over…
I’ve factory reset the unit and verified it is running 8.2.1…
I do not know any history other than I was told it was functioning fine before it got to me…
Is there a possibility they placed the wrong firmware?
I went to look for the firmware for this model, and I cannot find this model in the list…
It shows HW2 on it as well…
Thinking maybe the previous owner may have flashed the newest thinking they got the right one and got the wrong one…
I doubt this is a “wrong” firmware issue if the device works fine otherwise. That said, the firmware for the Max Transit (HW 1, 2, 3) can be found here…
Another thing I would try if I was you, is a factory reset (if you haven’t already done that).
If I had to guess though, I’d bet your device is in an IC2 account of the former owner, and that as soon as it goes online and checks in with IC2, changes are being applied to it.
I’m not sure where you got this, or if you have any recourse, but I would always advise finding your local reseller, and not buying second hand Peplink devices, unless from a reseller that can provide proper support. Many device manufacturers utilize additional services and subscriptions, including Peplink.
Getting things second hand without knowing the history often leads to disappointment. I had similar issues with a used SonicWall device I bought back in the day.
Hi there, thanks for your response… I finally figured out that it was a power supply issue… Replaced the power supply and it was happy and working fine…
Also, before I put anything used I make sure to turn off the IC2 option… However, the device tells me that it is not assigned to anyone anyhow, I’ll change that in the next few days…
I will say I was a little disheartened to get a Cat-18 modem and it doesn’t do any better either up or down in regards to speed… Was primarily looking for the carrier aggregation on the uplink… Either way, it’s a nice unit and covers more bands, so that’s always a plus… Not a problem with the peplink, more so with the design of the cellular system…
It’s worth remembering that CA is a “network decision” and will only be invoked if the device is capable and the carrier wants to use it.
Example of a carrier in the USA which generally uses CA: T-Mobile. Example of one that does “sometimes”: AT&T (Just our experience -YMMV.)
