New SIM card

I have aMax Transit Duo LTEA router . I just installed a new Verizon SIM card . The WAN connection status is just spinning saying Obtaining IP address. how to I get it to connect?

I read somewhere (on this forum, I think) that you have to set the APN for the SIM to

VZWINTERNET

to get it to work. When I put in my Verizon card, I did that from the start and it worked from the beginning.

@Jeff_Warrn : @Mattsand is correct. The correct APN must be present and this is probably the most common issue with getting cellular service to “work.” It is the cellular provider that must furnish this information. Sometimes “Auto” works – but only if the carrier provides the information to the router. Peplink cannot “make it up.” If the advice set forth by @Mattsand does not work the next call I’d make is to the party from whom your acquired the SIM. If that effort fails then we’ll want to get on with the next step.

Jeff, I’ll throw my $0.02 worth into this conversation. I’ve commissioned multiple Peplink devices on the Verizon network. In some instances the device was not actually certified for use on the Verizon network.
I’ll share my observations:

  1. In all instances, I had a ‘data only’ plan. I believe Verizon refers to these as hotspot plans. If you are attempting to use a phone plan, you can expect difficulties.
  2. In all instances when when the Peplink device was certified for use on the Verizon network, the device came to life with the default settings factory settings with the APN set to ‘AUTO’.
  3. In those instances where the device was not certified for use on the Verizon network (see this link for certified devices: Verizon Open Development | device-showcase) I could usually get the device to connect by taking a working SIM on the Verizon network & place it in the device.
The MAX Transit DUO LTEA router has been around for awhile. It should be a relatively painless process. I would make sure you have the latest device firmware & you are indeed trying to activate a Verizon data plan.
This has been my experience with Peplink devices. Your mileage may vary.
    Good luck.
