Starlink Data Pools features and usage
What is the Starlink Data Pools feature?
The Starlink Data Pools feature allows multiple Starlink terminals to be grouped together under a shared monthly data limit.
This feature requires a device running firmware version 8.5.2 or later.

Connecting “Starlink” to a Peplink router
Connect the Starlink device to the Peplink router to ensure it is recognized as a WAN interface on the router’s WebUI dashboard.
Go to Network > WAN, then scroll down to the Starlink section. Click the Edit button on the right side.
Select the WAN connection which is provided by Starlink.
Next, click Save at the bottom of the pop-up window, then select Apply Changes at the top of the web interface.
Once you complete these steps you should see that a “Starlink” logo has appeared next to the WAN interface in the dashboard section.
If you see the Starlink logo next to the status light, it means the Peplink device now recognizes this WAN interface as a Starlink connection.
Setting up Starlink Data Pools
Navigate to your InControl2 organization overview page, hover over the Reports section, and select Starlink Data Pools from the dropdown menu.
A configuration menu will appear, allowing you to set up the Starlink Data Pool.
Enter a custom name of your choice for the pool you’re creating.
To add Starlink devices to the pool, click on the empty Starlink IDs field. A list of available Starlink IDs already added to your organization will appear simply select the ones you want to include.
If the IDs don’t appear, you can manually enter the Starlink IDs (e.g., “01000000-00000000-00e1c9f7” do not include the ‘ut’ prefix). To add multiple devices, press Enter after each ID to start a new line.
Choose the desired bandwidth quota for the pool from the available options.
In this example I have set a monthly quota of 10GB, you can adjust all of the variables to suit your needs.
Once you’ve set the quota and entered the Starlink IDs, you can save your Starlink Pool configuration by clicking the Save button at the bottom of the window.
The Starlink Data Pool should now be visible in the Starlink Data Pools section.
This is the basic configuration required to set up a Starlink Data Pool. Additional configuration options will be explained below.
Additional configuration options:
Initial Starlink Data Pool Usage - Enter the data usage of the Starlink before the Peplink devices were connected. This ensures the data usage is synced between the Peplink device and the Starlink.
Notifications - Here, you can configure usage alerts to be sent via email, the Pushover client, or by making a POST request to a specific URL using the HTTP/S option.
In the example below a notification will be sent out over all three methods, when the Starlink pool usage reaches 75% and 95%
When Bandwidth Quota Exceeded - Here you can set the behaviour of the Pool when the bandwidth quota you set earlier is exceeded.
Two options are available:
Stop Routing User Traffic - When the quota is exceeded, InControl will command all devices to stop using all Starlinks specified in this pool for routing user traffic. Only InControl management traffic may be routed.
Bandwidth Throttling - bandwidth for traffic routed to the Starlinks specified in this pool will be throttled to specified speed.
Note: Bandwidth Throttling option will be supported from firmware version 8.5.3 or later.
Per-Starlink Daily Data usage
Per-Starlink Daily data usage allows you to see the amount of data that has been uploaded and downloaded on a specific Starlink.
First enter the Starlink ID of the specific starlink you want to view the data usage of and input the date range which you want to view.
After you do the steps above click on the “Download as CSV” file.
When you open the downloaded file, you should see all the key information displayed at the top, with data entries listed by date.
