New customer - Need help choosing product

Hello,

I run a high school sports broadcasting team and we are preparing to take the production on-the-road. Peplink seems to be exactly what we need, but I’m having a difficult time choosing which product I need. There seem to be multiple devices that overlap in abilities.

Here’s what I want:
-WAN port (to plug directly into a local network)
-Wifi Antenna (to connect to a local wifi signal)
-Cellular Connectivity (At least 2 different SIM slots that can support T-Mobil and Verizon)
-(at least) 2 network ports (so I can connect my POE switch)

Can someone please help steer me in the right direction so I buy the correct item… the first time?

Thank you,
Chris

Sounds like the Pepwave MAX BR1 Pro 5G would fit your needs. I use it with T-Mobile and Verizon, but it’s important to note that not both are active at the same time and the device does not provide PoE output on either LAN interface.

Do any PepLink devices offer simultaneous sim card usage so there’s no loss of service?

Hi Chris. For your application, as I understand it, I’d probably suggest looking at the BR2 – here → https://www.peplink.com/products/max-br2-pro/. - Rick

Does the Max Transit Pro have the same functions? Just fewer physical ports…

Hi. I’ve set this table up for you to compare three models – Peplink.com - Model Comparison . You can change the models you want to compare yourself if you wish. One thing important to note is the difference in the modems but there are other differences as well. It’s really a case of “pay more – get more.” ;<)

A max transit pro would possibly work as well.
What speeds are you looking for?
What are of the country are you located in?

Definitely, as could various versions of the the HD2. Based on my telephone conversation with Chris I’m thinking BR2. We’ll see how it all turns out. :<)

Max Transit Pro or BR2 Pro 5G sound look good options.

If you are super tight budget, and have lower bandwidth requirements, a balance 20x running 8.3.0 could get you out of trouble (2 sim slots, but only 1 modem so 1 active at a time- or add a cellular Flexmodule to get 2x modems, but getting close to Transit pro money).

If you’re looking to stream live video, having 5G modems might be a plus. Certainly with T-Mobile, the 5G is really the ticket. The Transit Pro Duo would be second choice, and less expensive. It has two LTE modems. If you go that route, put the T-Mobile in the first modem. T-Mobile’s network performance will likely make it your higher-priority when you set up the router, failing over to Verizon where there isn’t sufficient T-Mobile.
