Need help with RV internet

I am planning on traveling the entire US in a RV. I want to have a reliable internet connection. I currently have Verizon as a cell phone carrier. It would be ideal if I could just add a router to my current Verizon plan. Looks like prior posts on this forum about Verizon is not promising but those posts are a few years old. I do not need a lot of speed, just a TV, cell phone and a laptop computer, no heavy use. I am thinking a peplink router/modem and a roof mounted antenna. If Verizon does not work, I could switch carriers or even go with one of the multi-carrier plans if needed (Although very expensive). Any advise?

My initial research came up to this conclusion.

Modem = MAX-BR1-MINI-LTE-US-T-PRM
Antenna = 2 - Poynting 4×4 MIMO “Badger” 7-in-1 MIMO-3-17 5G/LTE Vehicle Antenna for Cellular Routers & Hotspots 410–3800 MHz

Welcome to the forum!

While the LTE version of the MINI is great, for just a little more money you can get the MAX-BR1-MINI-LTEA-US-T-PRM which has a better cellular modem capable of dual band aggregation (get some better speeds and reception).

The antenna, I would look at the Peplink ANT-MB-22G. I think that Poynting antenna has more radios then what you need.

Data Plans can be tricky. Verizon has a great network, but it is helpful to have a T-Mobile and AT&T as backup (the Peplink has a redundant SIM slot so you can put two carriers in there). If you wanted to utilize two carriers at once, there is the MAX Transit Duo which has two cellular modems (and if you want truly reliable internet, you’ll want to have two carriers)

Peplink also has a really great Esim option that connects to all the carriers in the United States.

Any good reason to go to a 5G modem?

You’ll get better speeds depending on where you are. 5G modems also will give you access to connect to more bands. I know with Verizon, there are some data plans that require their C-Band certification, and Peplink 5G routers have that certification.

This is getting complicated. Sounds like to need to find a carrier that has a service plan that I can work with and then find a modem that works with it. I would rather not have to pay $170 per month for service, so what do I do?

Not sure where you are getting that pricing, but that seems a little steep. Feel free to PM me. I know of some great Peplink resellers that resell cellular data
