Hi, I am looking for a device which can be installed in an automobile to provide wifi service to occupants. It is important that it can handle multiple 5g carriers simultaneously and also bond the connections. Looking to minimize/eliminate connectivity issues due to singular carrier dead spots. Lastly looking for something discreet (no large antennas).
Thanks for any suggestions
In a car I would recommend the BR2 Pro 5G. https://www.peplink.com/products/max-br2-pro/
Dual 5G modems inside, dual SIMs per modem. With the right data contracts your passengers will stay connected no issue. It’s small enough that you could install it in the trunk or front passenger footwell.
I would normally suggest a pair of 42G antennas for commercial vehicle install, but in a car that would be very visible. If you installed in the trunk I would suggest the Taoglas Guardian MA990. Its tiny supports 8 5G antenna connections and a GPS and could sit on your parcel shelf.
I would recommend talking to a Peplink partner so they can help with the mechanical design. You’ll want to think about power, external battery backup if you want internet for extended periods when the engine is off, physical install methods and make sure the SMA plugs on the antennas match up to the BR2 Pro.
