I have managed to add a Microsoft Teams SIP phone which runs behind our Balance One. The phone shows the Teams PSTN phone number on the display and we are signed into the Microsoft Teams account successfully. I was able to call an outside user and their phone rang but then it hung up on the first ring. On Teams admin the device shows as Offline. I can issue a restart command to the device via Teams admin and it follows the restart. For the moment I am using the default stateful firewall policy at the group level. I asked Peplink for help with this just now via some paid consulting. Does anyone have an idea what could be the issue with blocked ports? I am a newby to the Peplink, we previously used Cradlepoint. I am very happy with the WAN failover and it is all working very well with Starlink Business and our backup DSL WAN connection.
If you are using multiple WANs on your Balance One, make sure these connection all end up on the same WAN link.
UDP 3478-3481 (Connections to TURN servers)
TCP 443 (Call Control and registering)
UDP 50000-50059 (Direct Connections between clients)
You can watch the activity on the Status → Active Sessions page of your Peplink device.
This is what the status shows. We are using the SIP protocol pass through set to Compatability Mode.
Before trying anything too complicated testing wise, here’s what I would suggest. Plug in only Starlink and try a phone call… then plug in only the DSL connection and try a phone call. It most likely point you in the direction of next steps.
This turns out this is an issue with the phone and not the router as it happens regardless of which network I plug it on. Back to the messy configuration process. Thanks a lot for that hint.
