I have a max transit duo that recently did a factory reset on itself. Everything was fine and then one day the entire configuration was just gone. Anyone know why it would do this? This is mission critical stuff, can’t have this happening.
Hi @jeff2 ,
I would first check to ensure that your device doesn’t have any bulk configurations on it. It is possible that this could have led to the device being factory reset. Despite that, I would suggest contacting your Peplink Partner and discussing this with them first. If you can replicate this, all the better because that means it’s a problem that can be identified.

Thanks, @cwillett. Pardon my ignorance, what is a bulk configuration?
Hi @jeff2 ,
It’s unlikely that you have one set, but a bulk configuration would be a device configuration file that would push to all applicable devices in a group. This will usually include, WiFi AP, VLANS, OBP, Firewall rules and Web admin settings.
You can view if you have this in effect by going into your organization and going towards the top right, under group it should have “Bulk Configuration” as an option.
But personally, I would start at your Peplink Partner, as this can be either a quick fix or a very complex issue. If it’s a more complex issue, fact-finding will be very important.
Respectfully,
CJW
@cwillett Got it, thanks for the info. Will post info here if we figure anything out.
Just to follow up here in case it helps someone else: peplink support said the router periodically saves its config and if it happens to be powered down while this is happening, it’s possible for the config to be lost. They recommended installing ignition sensing on the device to ensure it can properly shut itself down. I currently just have it hooked to an ignition powered 12V line in its vehicle, so the theory is that the vehicle was shut off at just the right time to result in a lost config.
They say it’s extremely rare for this to happen, and it normally shouldn’t, but installing ignition sensing would potentially mitigate this.
Jeff, just to state the obvious, confirm that you have control over this unit when you log into Incontrol2
We don’t use InControl. It’s disabled on the unit.
