I am not using my MT Duo on the road any longer. I am stationary and would like to be able to use my MAX Transit with a cable modem.
Can the ethernet port be configured to accept the traffic from the Cable Modem?
Rick
The WAN port can yes.
Would you share what the config settings are to accomplish this?
Plug a network cable from WAN of Transit to LAN of the Cable Modem.
Assuming the modem has been configured and is connected your Transit will have internet access.
i am currently renting my modem/router. I don’t have access to the Cable Modem for any config changes. My plan was to purchase and Arris CM and connect to my Max Transit. I don’t want to purchase another router if the max transit will connect.
I don’t like paying rent for equipment. The provider requires a Docsis 3.1 connected to dual band AP/router.
What if any configs need to be made to the port on the cable modem so that the Max T would connect?
You are actually asking two questions here.
- Can the Transit technically be connected to the cable modem and work (yes it can).
- What config do you need. This depends on the ISP. Assuming yours lets you use your own cable modem, then you will likely need to give them a serial / MAC address so they can authenticate it on their network, but i would go to their user forums to ask that question.
Your Max transit will just need you to have the wired WAN in priority 1 on the dashboard and an outbound policy set to use it.
Great Information! I was able to connect my Max transit to the rented modem. So I am confident that I will be able to make this work.
I spoke to the provider and all they need is the MAC ID of my new modem.
Issue: I am paying for 150 Mbps service. When Connected to the providers router I get the speed I am paying for. With the Pepwave I am not getting the speed I am paying for. I am getting 50 Mbps up / down.
Any suggestions Where to tweak to get the speed?
I just got a 170+ Mbps download speed…yay! I was connected using 2.4G and changed to 5GHz …
Thanks for your support.
