Max Transit Duo and wifi as wan with iPhone 13

Hi,

Pepwave Max Transit Duo, Firmware 8.1.3 build 5172
Poynting 7-in-1 antenna on the roof
iPhone 13, iOS16.6, carrier is Visible. This is our plan C back-up plan (unlimited data) in addition to 2 SIM cards (AT&T & T-Mobile) already in the pepwave, and also my wife’s phone.

When I try to use the “personal hotspot” with default settings on the iPhone, I can connect my PC or my Amazon fire stick without any issues, but not the Pepwave’s wifi as wan.

I tried to rename the iPhone with lowercase non special characters / no space only: no changes.

I then tried to use the “maximize compatibility” feature on the iPhone, which basically uses 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz and it worked.

Any idea why?
Any chance I could make it work with the 5GHz, since the phone is 6 feet under the roof antenna?

Thanks

Seb

On the Transit dashboard you will see a WiFi WAN for each supported Frequency. eg:

Use the 5Ghz one.

I forgot to mention, I’m a software engineer, so I did try “all the logical things” I could think of

When using the Wi-fi WAN 5Ghz, it just spins on connecting then never connects to the iPhone hotpost.
