MAX Transit Cat-18 Band Steering from 2.4Ghz to 5Ghz

Hello,

I am reading in several post that it should be possible to force clients towards the 5GHz when connecting to the AP.
I was reading the pepwave-max-user-manual-8.1.0.pdf and I could not find any hint about this?
How is it configured?
Can I assign the same SSID to both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz 2.4Ghz to 5Ghz and have the client automatically connect to the 5GHz version or do I need 2 separate SSIDs?

A screenshot of the steering configuration would be great

Thanks!

Here you go…it’s in the SSID configuration.

The way it works is… when a Client tries to associate to 2.4 it’s denied… then the Client tries to associate via 5 and is allowed, as you will find out, denying clients isn’t always the most reliable mechanism for moving them to 5ghz… that’s why it’s called steering and not locking  lol.

Thanks! That was really nicely hidden under Help

My bad, I have found the right place

Out of curiosity, what firmware version are you upgraded to?
I am looking at the live demo http://maxdemo.peplink.com/cgi-bin/MANGA/index.cgi?mode=config&option=extapconfig that runs 8.0.1 build 4368 and the Band Steering is not available

Sounds like you figured it out, but I’m on 8.1.0
