Greetings,
I am now embarking on a very interesting project and need some advice. My operation is primarily within the tourism sector in Jamaica, I provide internet on-board tour buses primarily. This has created an opportunity for me to also provide internet at some local tourism hotspots. However, therefore need more bandwidth and capacity for multiple user multiple in multiple out (MU-MIMO). I have been doing soom reading and I believe i can achieve this using the Max HD4 MBX. The areas I am targeting typically do not have a high bandwidth provider, thus I intend to use cellular connectivity to create a gigibit connection through bandwidth bonding. I plan to use multiple sim cards each having 60GB of data and bonding them (all from same provider) to achieve a highspeed connection and using MUMIMO outdoor APs to connect the various areas such as the bar, beach, dining and waiting areas respectively. Is this possible? does anyone have any similar deployments? can someone provide me with advice in terms of a setup diagram or assistance with choosing antennas and APs?
Hi @Kedon_Luke
basically you are in a right place as the Peplink products were designed for MultiWan use.
What needs to be cleared is that you may want to choose an different model and traffic distribution method for your deployment.
There is a difference between a Bandwith Bonding and Load Balancing. Both are methods of traffic distribution, but Bandwidth Bonding actually bonds multiple WAN sources into one data stream on a packet level, whereas Load Balancing sends different sessions across multiple Internet Services.
You can find more information here:
With MBX you can achieve up to 600 Mbps of bonded traffic throughput and 2,5 Gbps throughput while load balancing.
If you want to combine multiple cellular WANs to achieve more than 1Gbps bonded throughput you should take a look at EPX.
sounds good to me, what access points would you recommend? I plan to buy some equipment and deploy asap. I have 5 locations with each having approximately 1,500 to 2000 patrons daily so I want to get the best possible out door APs preferably 4x4 mu-mimo (based on my basic knowledge) i think that would best suit the deployment need.
Hello @Kedon_Luke,
Have you looked at the outdoor rated Pepwave AP Pro?
We have deployed these in some very extreme conditions.
Happy to Help,
Marcus
Iām going to order a pair of those and setup one location and see how it goes, I will report the progress.
