After activating an iPad, I’ve installed the T-Mobile SIM in the router and configured TLL to 64, and here are the preliminary results from “speedtest.net” with a 5G connection:
SIM directly on iPad: Down: ~295 Mbps; Up:~10 Mbps
SIM on Router + Laptop on Router’s LAN port: Down: ~295 Mbps; Up:~2 Mbps
It looks like Upload speed has taken a significant hit… Is this expected, or is there more “magic” I can try on the Cellular configuration of the modem/router?
“Magic” is generally not discussed here as it is in violation of nearly every telco’s ToS and true “magic” requires modifying your Peplink device and its components, voiding their warranty.
However, to answer your question on the upload difference, your iPad is likely a newer one and is doing uplink carrier aggregation (CA), giving you better upload speed. There isn’t currently a Peplink device that supports Release 17 chipsets and therefore uplink CA is not possible. T-Mobile has a DL:UL ratio configuration in their RAN that is a bit more favorable to downlink, sacrificing uplink.

Thanks for the welcome!.. By “magic” I meant configuration settings in the modem/router to optimize the SIM (e.g., setting TTL to 64), and certainly did not mean modifications to the Peplink that may void its warranty!
As for the iPad: It’s not new… It’s an 8th gen (model# MYN82LL/A).
