Hey all! I hope this isn’t a stupid question, but having been recently experimenting with the new 8.3 synergy features, I am a bit stymied by the fact that I can only get synergy mode to work when I use my Br1 Pro 5g as the synergy device and my older Balance20x as the synergy controller.
I was really hoping to use it with the newer BR1 5g acting as the SC due to wifi 6 needs in our larger motorhome, but no matter what I try it seems to only want to work as the Synergy Device.
Both are on 8.3, both have active primecare. I have factory reset in the correct order, changed out ethernet cables, waited the recommended 5+ minutes, etc, no luck.
Maybe this just isn’t supported? Hard to find documentation stating what is and is not a valid SC/SD device setup. Thank you!
X series devices like the Balance 20X are only supported as the Synergy Controller and can’t be used as the Synergy Device. One option would be to add an access point to the setup. You could then allow the Balance 20X WiFi module to be dedicated to WiFi WAN and use an exterior antenna where it will have better reception, and then use the additional access point inside where it has a less obstructed path to WiFi clients. If you go with a Peplink access point, the AP controller on the Balance 20X will allow the access point to take it’s configuration from the router and configuration of all three devices is still maintained on the single device.
Thank you for the confirmation here Topher, truly appreciate it, it just means I’ll have to seek out the AP route if I want to improve the wifi coverage. I already have the BR1 Pro wired for external wifi as wan via our Mobility 42g
