Yesterday, I went into the ATT store to get a sim card for my new router and was told it was incompatible with ATT. The guy said he could make me a sim card, but if it didn’t work, no refund. End of conversation, that’s the way it is.
So, what can be done? Return the router for another model?
If you can get a blank SIM, try putting the IMEI here and see what it says:
If it succeeds, it will offer you the 100 GB for $90 plan which is probably what the store guy was going to sell you. If it fails then you’ve only lost the cost of the SIM, not the whole plan.
I’ve attached a site that lists all the IOT devices certified for use on the AT&T network. It’s easy enough to filter this list to find your device to see if it’s certified on AT&T’s network.
Some observations/questions…
Have you contacted your Peplink partner for assistance? Did you talk to him/her prior to the purchase?
Sales reps at the store are most likely compensated by the $ value of product they sell. I suspect they are not motivated to help you with technical issues which don’t yield a big commission.
If your device is indeed certified for use on the AT&T network (see URL above), I would request to talk to the store manager to get his/her assistance.
