MAX BR1 MINI CAT-7 LTEA Mobile Router remote antenna options

Hey Guys,
Just looking to set up my MAX BR1 MINI CAT-7 LTEA Mobile Router in the basement near my network cabinet. From that point till my roof peek is 35’ run of cable. I have one LTE tower in line of sight (approx 2.5 miles away). What antenna and extension cables should I get? Do I need two outside antennas (to replace the original Right and Left cellular antennas on the unit)?

Thanks for your help

Travis

Hi @Travis_Wiens. Frankly, I’d rethink that a bit. 35’ is really too long for any cable although it may “work” with relatively low-loss cables such as LMR400 or LMR600 (the latter presents its own difficulties due to its stiffness.) Is there a way you can get the router to a location closer to where you want your antennas, and/or perhaps move your antennas closer to your router? We’ve had numerous of these challenges and while it’s nice to have a router with the other equipment to take advantage of UPS, HVAC, etc, sometimes, like now, it’s best to get it out of there.

If you can do it, an antenna such as Peplink’s ANT-MB-20G-S-W-6, which you can see here may be a good choice.

Having said all that, Peplink’s new product, the Antenna MAX may work for you. I have two “conditional” reservations about this: (1) The product is new and we have not seen one yet and (2) we are concerned about heat gain within the unit. The latter is the prime enemy of MTBF.
