Mapping between Local DNS and DHCP

I am using a Peplink Balance 20 running firmware 8.0.2

I have several dozen static DHCP reservations set up as: Name / MAC / IP

I would expect the DNS on the Peplink to automatically handle resolution of those names. But it only resolves names that I explicitly define in the ‘Local DNS’ section. This is surprising; it requires me to replicate my name/IP mapping in two places.

Is there any way for the Local DNS mapping to pull its data from the DHCP server?

Mis-understanding. DHCP reservation marries a MAC address to an IP address. Period. That is all it does.
The name you see when configuring a DHCP reservation is just for your convenience. The router does not use it at all.
