Dear All,

We are using Peplink 380 as WAN Load balance and DNS server.

Our domain name: rfd.gov.vn

Our MX record: mail.rfd.gov.vn

Now, we would like to use mail relay service. The relay gateway MX =mx.safemail.vn.

So we would like to point our MX record to mx.safemail.vn

Please help us to solve this problem

Hi Phat,

  1. First of all, You can think of Peplink as Full featured DNS server that just authorizes your domain (rfd.gov.vn). So lot of things relevant to DNS protocol Peplink’s Balance can provide including “Relaying” as your thoughts.

  2. For “relaying”, just going to "Network –> DNS Settings –> “rfd.gov.vn” domain settings –> “MX Records” and editing This Record.

  • Currently, your settings are as follows:

rfd.gov.vn MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mail.rfd.gov.vn

rfd.gov.vn nameserver = ns2.rfd.gov.vn

rfd.gov.vn nameserver = ns1.rfd.gov.vn

mail.rfd.gov.vn internet address = 222.255.248.118

  • Now you must change it to be “mx.safemail.vn.” and STRONGLY REMEMBER THE DOT “.” at the end !!!

  • Remember also that Default TTL of MX record for Peplink Balance is set to be 3600 sec (or others). You must wait at least 1h for New setting available and stable. Your may want to change things at night or weekend or so.

  • BEST PRACTICE: For least impact to your business. You should first set this TTL smaller, 1 minute for instance. Later on (2h later,LONGER VALUE THAN CURRENT TTL), you can freely change it to new setting (mx.safemail.vn.). Finally, when everthing is OK, you can return TTL to be 3600 sec or LONGER.

  • Also be sure that you’ve got (safemail.vn) well defined.

  1. Do trust me, because we have other customers like you. They used Mail relay service from VDC (MR.VNN.VN) and above procedure is risk free (just within 1 minute at risk).
