LAN Bypass

Does the new Balance 710 revision have LAN Bypass ? also I need to know what configurations needed for LAN bypass to be working ?

in a normal configuration in drop-in mode the default gateway for devices on LAN side is the IP address of the Peplink. so when Peplink goes down the default gateway would be unavailable !! so how LAN Bypass works in such situation ?

In a normal configuration in drop-in mode, the default gateway for devices on LAN side should be the Internet gateway in front of Peplink, not the Peplink itself. Therefore, the default gateway of LAN devices should have same default gateway as Peplink’s drop-in WAN. For example, a router with IP 210.10.10.1 sit in front of Peplink with drop-in mode. The default gateway of Peplink is 210.10.10.1. The LAN devices should also have 210.10.10.1 as default gateway.

With LAN Bypass, when Peplink goes down, as the default gateway of LAN devices are router 210.10.10.1 in front of Peplink, the traffic will able to route to Internet.

Thank you Lai,

It was a good point , as we always set the default gateway of the LAN devices to the Peplink’s IP Address in Drop-in mode.
