Details:
We have received several reports from users experiencing issues with their devices’ USB WAN, which is no longer able to connect after updating to firmware version 8.5.3 GA.
Upon investigation and verification using a lab device, we noticed that the USB WAN configuration is restored after upgrading to firmware version 8.5.3 GA.
In addition, any changes made to the USB WAN after upgrading to version 8.5.3 GA will no longer persist after a reboot.
We have prepared a special firmware (8.5.3s042) to mitigate the issue. The fix will be included in the next GA release.
Affected firmware version:
8.5.3 GA
Affected models:
All device models that support USB WAN
Hey @WeiMing , I updated to this firmware on a BR2 Pro 5G that I have and was having issues with the 5G Max Adapter (the dongle). Now, it won’t connect to the device reliably, tells me “no peplink esim subscription” even though peplink eSIM is disabled for that interface, and also shows “no physical status” often. In short, it went from not working to really not working Any advice?
Hi @ChristopherSpitler, we tried to reproduce this but failed. I am able to connect to SIM A without issue even performed a reboot on the router or the MAX adapter. Could you help open a ticket for us to further check and support you on this?
Hello Everyone,
We have been working with the Peplink team, and there is another version (excluding the iPhone tethering) that we are testing; the results are looking promising. There should be an update from the Peplink team posted on this soon.
Have a good week,
Marcus
In general, special firmware versions are not cumulative unless stated otherwise in the description provided above. The special firmware will mainly targeted for those specially using the feature which required a fix before it been cumulative in the next GA version.
For cases that are more complex and may involve multiple issues requiring a combination of fixes, please create a support ticket so that our team can review and provide further assistance.
The new dedicated firmware 8.5.3 for Balance One Core, 8.5.3s042-build5789 deletes the USB WAN feature completely. Looking forward to a fix for this even though support for Balance One Core goes end of life after 8.5.3. For me this feature gets used all the time.
I have a quick setup with our lab unit (Balance One Core) with the special firmware, 8.5.3s042, I have no issue connecting a USB-Ethernet adapter, although it’s name as “Mobile Internet”…
