Just set up InControl first time. Device shows OFFLINE

I finally got around to setting up InControl. I add my only device. When I run InControl on the remote end it shows the device as offline. The “Service Expired” column shows 1 device. Also, everywhere I turn I am informed the warranty on the device is expired.

Do I need to have an active warranty on my Balance 580 in order to remote into it with InControl?

Hello @bsusd,
When did you purchase your device? If it was more than 12 months ago your warranty will have run out if not extended before then, if you purchased your unit more recently from a Authorised Peplink Partner, you can contact them to get your warranty sorted.

You still can operate your device locally without InControl2 if you wish, there is a great mixture of people in this community that operate the devices away from InControl2 and those that operate within, Peplink’s support both ways, so if you have run out of warranty, you can still get full access to latest firmware and this forum for support.

Depending you your unit and if it is out of warranty, you may be able to get just an InControl2 subscription, again talk with one of your local Peplink Certified Partners for guidance on this.

Happy to Help,

We’ve had the unit for a couple of years, so it is no surprise the warranty is done. What was a surprise is that the InControl feature is tied to the warranty. It appears that that is what you were saying though.

InControl is not mandatory, as I can remote in to a local PC. Just wanted to finally check it out. I will have to talk to a partner and see if the warranty can be extended. If so, that may give us access to IC without having to get a separate subscription. If extended warranty is offered we may get one simply because it is a mission critical appliance. thanx.
