We have an installation with an SDX and two 8 PoE 10G switches connected via SFP+. Everything is on the latest firmware, and the installation of LANs and WANs itself is functionally active and fine. My question is: Is it expected that when the SDX’s onboard Switch Controller is activated for the switches, then the switches are no longer able to be controlled via InControl2? Is it an either-or situation? We have the SDX Switch Controller activated and indeed both switches appear offline in InControl2. We’ve never been able to connect them to the InControl2 cloud.
I’m still not sure what we’re doing wrong here. Both switches have a port labeled with the IC2 icon when viewed from the SDX local switch controller (image below), but neither shows up in InControl2 with all of our other gear at various sites. Both switches appear in the Offline Devices column. We don’t have Outbound Firewall rules or anything unusual in that sense.
Confirming that it does indeed seem to be either-or. When I disable the SDX’s local switch controller, both switches immediately appear online in InControl2. I can’t explain why it’s either-or (either local control or InControl2 control but not both) for network switches, since that’s not the case with any other Peplink gear we’ve used.
