It looks like a great product and I’m in final evaluation to buy a few.
A couple of questions on the tests.
I note that the Transit Duo Pro passed at +55C for 3 days. Was it tested at higher temperatures and failed?
Has an assessment been made of any impact to the overall life of the unit running at higher temperatures? I’d expect a shorter life running at higher temperature based on normal electronics de-rating at higher temperatures.
Yes, Transit Pro Duo was failing at higher than +55C temperature. We where increasing temperature in +5C steps.
Yes, correct, the higher temperature might affect to the electronics. Typically this happens to electrolytic capacitors as they dry up over long time and at high temperature this happens faster.
For your reference below is MTBF for the Transit Duo Pro at different temperatures:
Thank you for the fast response and clear information. The life of the Transit Duo Pro isn’t a worry for me, especially as it’d be Peplink’s cost under a care plan!
Do you have any thoughts about use in full sun with an ambient of 30-35C? Will the solar heating on the enclosure put it above 55C?
hard to say I do not have experience how much heat sun would add under ambient temp +30C…+35C. I bet it should not add +20C deg especially since enclosure is white
