Introducing the Antenna MAX

Update about the deck mounts for the Antenna MAX.

Currently ACW-653 and Antenna MAX has slight hole position mismatch. We will release the new deck mount version to fix the issue (NEW SKU: ACW-653A).

The correct Deck mount options for Antenna MAX will be:

  • ACW-653A<>ACW-651<>ACW-653 — Deck
  • ACW-653A<>ACW-651<>ACW-652 — Deck

Hi @Giedrius

It looks like a great product and I’m in final evaluation to buy a few.

A couple of questions on the tests.

  1. I note that the Transit Duo Pro passed at +55C for 3 days. Was it tested at higher temperatures and failed?
  2. Has an assessment been made of any impact to the overall life of the unit running at higher temperatures? I’d expect a shorter life running at higher temperature based on normal electronics de-rating at higher temperatures.

Thanks in advance.
David

Hi David,

  1. Yes, Transit Pro Duo was failing at higher than +55C temperature. We where increasing temperature in +5C steps.
  2. Yes, correct, the higher temperature might affect to the electronics. Typically this happens to electrolytic capacitors as they dry up over long time and at high temperature this happens faster.

For your reference below is MTBF for the Transit Duo Pro at different temperatures:

  • +65 ℃ / 106926 Hours
  • +25 ℃ / 278018 Hours

@Giedrius

Thank you for the fast response and clear information. The life of the Transit Duo Pro isn’t a worry for me, especially as it’d be Peplink’s cost under a care plan!

Do you have any thoughts about use in full sun with an ambient of 30-35C? Will the solar heating on the enclosure put it above 55C?

Kind Regards
David

Hi David,

hard to say I do not have experience how much heat sun would add under ambient temp +30C…+35C. I bet it should not add +20C deg especially since enclosure is white

Would this work with a AP One Rugged even though it is not listed as a compatible device?

Yes, you can use AP One Rugged as well inside the Antenna MAX.

The latest datasheet has AP One Rugged added into compatible product list
