Interference between Maritime peplink antennas

I have a maritime project with a Peplink MBX mini (2x5G) where I’m connecting 2x Peplink Maritime 40G antennas, showing we have a 2m. cables integrated finishing on SMA Male, I needed to include 2 packets with extensions ACW-816 (QMA-to-SMA adapters, 0.5ft / 15cm), connecting to QMA Female of MBX Mini.

However, showing the length of cables, I’m gonna need to install them almost in the same pole, could I have interferences between antennas?

Of course radars or any other UHF/VHF service could affect but I’m worried about between peplink antennas…

Thanks in advance for your feedbacks

Hi Angel,

Interference can definytly occur if the are in close proximity of each other, 1.5m is what we normally advice to keep as a “safe” distance when it comes to LTE frequencies. (although the level of interference changes due to the frequency used.) When using a combined antenna (2x2 or 4x4), this re-radiation also occurs, but within the antenna this is designed to be kept to a minimum based on how the antenna is made and the “distance” between the antenna aerials within the enclosure.

Really appreciate your input @Frontier_Netherlands, in that case I will pay attention on that distances. Anyway I’ve been looking for solution and I´m thinking to add cables RG223 with SMA-QMA preconectorized with 1m. of length instead of those offered by Peplink.

RG223-SF -QM(QTY:1m)

Hi Angel,

Cables with the correct connector is always a good idea, using converter connectors also creates additional loss.

Did you also look at the DOME PRO LR unit from Peplink?
Reading your question again, would made me think this product solves all your problems.

Kind regards,

Frontier Netherlands

Thanks for your recommendation. Unfortunately, number of sessions/users is a key in our project, so we cannot use BR1, BR2 or domes with all included, MBX mini has an strong core and it allows us more session almost like HD4 MBX. Nothing is perfect…however, I agree with you Dome pro LR is a great solution all-in-one reducing RF side to 0.

Thanks again!

Ahoy Angel!

Don’t forget we now have this amazing feature called Synergy mode!

We deploy LOTS of HD1 Dome or soon the BR1 Pro 5G inside the Antenna MAX and run them into an SDX Pro, Balance 580 etc… down below to reduce cable loss.

Price wise compared to installed the MBX is similar, but performance is better and installation is simpler.

This setup we run on both Sailing Yacht and Motor Yachts (Not to mentioned Ferries, Cruise Ships, Commercial Ships etc…).

Even retrofitting older modems can be done and can be used to extend the lifetime of products,
