Installation of Pepwave Maritime 20G antenna in sailboat rig

For long distance sailing, I consider to install a Pepwave Maritime 20G antenna for my Pepwave Max BR1 Mini in the mast of our 42’ sailboat rig.
Can anybody tell me if the antenna can be mounted close to the (aluminium) mast or close to standing rigging (vertical stainless steel wire) - or does this degrade the functioning of the antenna?

many seem to prefer mounting off a pole towards the stern/transom. shorter antenna cable run the better.

Thanks for the advice - that is a much simpler solution than to install it in the rig!
