Inquiry on Upgrade Path & Stability for Peplink Balance 305 and 380X (HA Mode)

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions regarding a planned firmware upgrade for our Peplink devices running in HA mode, and I would appreciate your advice and experience.

Peplink Balance 305 (HW2 – HA Mode)
Current firmware: 7.1.1 build 2460
Target firmware: 8.5.4 (latest release)

Peplink Balance 380X (HW1 – HA Mode)
Current firmware: 8.1.3 build 5162
Target firmware: 8.5.4 (latest release)

My questions are:

  1. Is it recommended to upgrade directly from the current firmware versions to 8.5.4, or is there a suggested upgrade path with intermediate versions for better stability?
  2. Based on your experience, is firmware 8.5.4 considered stable for production environment, especially when running in HA mode?
  3. Are there any known issues, caveats, or best practices that we should be aware of before performing this upgrade?
