I’ve a shiny new Peplink MAX BR1 Mini 5G. (Yay me \o/)
This is typical of what I’m seeing with it sitting inside, on its included paddle antennas:
SINR: 13.0dB
RSRP: -98dBm
RSRQ: -12.0dB
I’m wondering if there’s a modest indoor 5G antenna that might improve these numbers?
By “modest” I mean in both size and cost
It’s not a big deal. This is actually going to serve as a backup connection for our primary Internet connection. A role that’s been served by a NetGear LB1120 cell modem until now.
Only reason for the upgrade was to get some hands-on experience integrating Starlink into it before doing so for a buddy using a MAX BR1 5G out in the back woods—where resources are few and far between. Once that’s done I’ll re-purpose it to our home Internet’s backup connection.
Hi, @Jim_Seymour
Looking at my device…
5G Band n78 (3500 MHz)
SINR: 27.0dB
RSRP: -77dBm
RSRQ: -11.1dB
Channel: 628704
PCI: 102
Bandwidth: 100 MHz
And I using OMNI-214 (Poynting).
So… Your device is fine. Can be better… Sure… But… You will need an external antenna outside of your house/office.

Thanks for the reply, Marcelo.
I guess inside antennas are not a popular topic or very widely-used among Peplink customers. Guess I’ll have to research to see if there’s anything more effective than the paddle antennas.
I doubt I’ll be drilling a hole through the side of the house through which to run four coax runs and hanging a 5G antenna off the soffit, though it could happen
ETA: Asked Grok. Came up with three suggestions, among which was the Peplink SLIM-40G. Search here found nothing on it. That one would fit the bill. Question is whether or not it’d provide an improvement worth the cost.
Thanks for the additional follow-up, Marcelo.
I’d read the data sheet, Peplink’s claims, watched the MobileMustHave first impressions video, and read what user reviews I could find (few & conflicting).
Bottom line is the Mini 5g’s to eventually be located in a network cabinet, something is needed for an external antenna, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a SLIM 40G.
I’ll let y’all know how well it works over the stock paddle antennas.
Nice…
I have one piece of
Just buyied for a test and works well.

The new Antenna Max is proving pretty good for me for these types of applications, especially for units like the BR1 Mini 5G that can be POE powered via their LAN interfaces.
Single UTP run up to the modem outside somewhere which is often easier to achieve than multiple RF cables and negligible signal loss from the antenna cables into the modem as they’re in the same enclosure.
Only real draw back to me are if you need to physically access the unit for any reason I suppose.

Agree with Will - the Antenna MAX could be an excellent option for indoor installations, especially where aesthetics are a priority, as all cables can be neatly concealed within the enclosure.
