I recently bought a B One as an upgrade for my Surf SOHO Mk3. I was advised that I could use InControl to convert the 8.3 config on the SOHO to one that would work on the B One. However, the resulting conversion is quite different from the SOHO config and not really useable. I was hoping to convert, swap the B One for the SOHO, and then restart my network hoping the swap would be transparent to the devices. Not a chance. My SOHO config is modest and used primarily for wifi connected devices: an untagged lan for safe devices and an isolated vlan for IOT. I’m not very knowlegeable about networks (but I’ve done a lot systems stuff over the years), so it’s possible I’m doing something wrong. But it really looks to me like the so-called conversion is bogus. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thamks for reading.
Update: I think I finally got the conversion to work correctly. I needed to have both the SOHO and the B-One to be online to InControl at the same time (even though I was downloading from a backup on InControl). Since I have only one connection to the internet, connecting to the SOHO via Wifi as Wan on the B1 enabled Incontrol to see both boxes. I spot checked the converted config and it looks good. Apologies for the previous harsh language.
