InControl2 Dark Mode is Here! (Unofficially)

As a heavy user of InControl2, I wanted to make it a bit more friendly to the eyes. I built a Chrome and Firefox extension to add dark mode and a few other handy features.

  • Set dark mode, light mode, or system
  • Enable default table size increase (groups/lists) from 25 to 100 or more
  • Show/Hide “PrimeCare is Expiring”-style messages on lists

But, the biggest:
GLOBAL SEARCH. Control+K / Command+K will bring up a modal allowing you to search and navigate to orgs, devices, and groups across your entire InControl2 login with a single click:

Enjoy, and please provide feedback!

It has a LOT more than just Dark Mode!

It polishes and gives a modern look both both Light and Dark Modes. It also provides an excellent CTL-K or CMD-K menu with handy shortcuts!

A must have for any IC2 user! Thanks Chris!!

I shared my screen to show something in IC2 today and the customer was immediately like what is this tool you are using?!

Thanks so much for sharing!

Thank you for Dark Mode.

UPDATE: Firefox extension has been approved by mozilla and posted in the original post.

Any way you could get it to support ICVA/custom domains? Works wonders on our public IC but as the domain of our ICVA is not supported, I’m not able to get it to work on Firefox.

Looking nice tho!

Just checking, but were you using the Firefox Add-on and did you ensure it was enabled in the add-on settings?

ICVA is easy but also complex. It would require us to list all domain names in the approved permissions which would subsequently expose your ICVA domains to anyone else that used it. We’re happy to put your ICVA domain names in the extension if you’re OK with that, but I strongly recommend against it.

Yup, I’m using the extension for our public IC portals so it is working, but our ICVA domain is reported as not supported.

Too bad!

Ah, yes, that’s expected.

There’s two ways to build an extension:

  1. Tell it the domains it needs to run on, or
  2. Tell it to run on every domain (obviously not great)

If we took the latter option it would mean more scrutiny and requirements for submission to the Chrome and Mozilla extension stores and, since this is a free extension, we opted not to do that.

Sorry!

@ChristopherSpitler Really nice work on this. Any chance you could add pepwave.com to the supported domains? Thank you for sharing!

hey @Rafferty_Woentono , absolutely. I’m going to send you a DM.

Hey everyone! I’ve been making updates over the past several days. I just submitted v0.5.10 to Google and Mozilla and they will require you to re-enable permissions as we have added a new host pattern.

As always, let me know if there are issues or recommendations!

@ChristopherSpitler Any way for us to simply add our own ICA urls once the plugin is loaded?
