I’ve got an old piece of hardware that attempts to connect to a server by IP address that is apparently hard-coded to the device. That server is apparently no longer available, so the device no longer works. Other users have been able to get their devices running, by using NAT translation to force request to that IP to a public DNS server (like 8.8.8.8). I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to do that on my Pepwave Surf SOHO Mk3 (8.3.0 firmware).
Can anybody tell me if that’s possible, and if so, how to do that?
You can likely make this work using a custom virtual network mapping entry.
Can you share the IP addressing its looking for and what you want to redirect to? Is the new target IP on the local network or is it on the WAN of the Peplink?
It’s looking for 208.83.244.20, and I want it redirected to any public DNS server. Many have used Google at 8.8.8.8. It’s not on the local network. It’s on the internet (WAN).
Thank you. I’ll give that a try. I updated to the latest firmware, and now many devices on my network aren’t connecting, including the one in question. I’ve submitted a support request for that. I’ll try your solution once this other one is fixed.
